The Starburst Matrix is built for one audience: professional lighting integrators, show designers, and municipal festival organizers who demand pixel-level DMX control. Each unit exposes 8 independent DMX channels — individual LED tube control, color mixing, strobe, dimming, and macro effects. Connect up to 64 units on a single DMX universe. Native compatibility with MadMapper, grandMA2, Lightkey, QLC+, and any Art-Net/sACN-compatible controller. For city-scale light shows, synchronized building facade installations, and permanent municipal lighting systems that must integrate with existing DMX infrastructure, Matrix is the professional choice.

Why Integrators Choose Matrix

True DMX512 — Not an Adapter, Not a Bridge

Most 'DMX-compatible' decorative lights require a proprietary controller or bridge that adds latency, limits channel count, and introduces a single point of failure. Matrix is DMX512 native — standard XLR connectors, standard protocol, zero translation layer. Plug into any DMX universe and address like any professional fixture.

Works with the Software Your Clients Already Use

Lighting designers and show programmers live in their software — MadMapper, grandMA2, Lightkey, Resolume. Matrix shows up as a standard 8-channel DMX fixture in every major lighting control platform. No custom plugins, no API integration, no "learning a new system." Just a fixture profile.

64 Units Per Universe — City-Scale Synchronization

With 64 units per DMX universe and unlimited universe expansion via splitters, Matrix supports installations from a single building facade to an entire city square. Municipal festival organizers can choreograph hundreds of units across multiple universes using a single lighting console.

Complete Documentation Package for Professional Tenders

Every Matrix order includes: DMX channel map, fixture profile files (grandMA2, QLC+, Lightkey), photometric data, IP65 test certification, ETL safety certificate, CE declaration of conformity, and a bill of materials. Everything your integrator clients need to submit a comprehensive tender response.

Installation Guide

1

DMX Planning

Map DMX universe layout — up to 64 units per universe. Assign base DMX addresses to each unit. Plan cable runs (DMX cable: Belden 9841 or equivalent, max 300m per segment, terminate last unit with 120Ω resistor).

2

Mount & Address

Install base plates and mount units. Set DMX address on each unit using onboard DIP switches (1–512). Label each unit clearly with its DMX address for future maintenance.

3

Cable & Test

Connect DMX daisy-chain (unit 1 DMX OUT → unit 2 DMX IN → ...). Connect power. Test each unit individually via DMX controller before running the full show.

4

Program & Commission

Import fixture profile into your lighting software. Patch units by DMX address. Program scenes, chases, and pixel maps. Commission the full installation with a test show at night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Matrix compatible with my DMX controller?
Matrix uses standard DMX512-A protocol via XLR 3-pin or 5-pin connectors. It works with any DMX-compliant controller: grandMA2, Chamsys, ETC, Avolites, Lightkey, QLC+, and software-based solutions like MadMapper and TouchDesigner.
How do I address each Matrix unit?
Each unit has onboard DIP switches for DMX address setting (1–512). 8 channels per unit, so unit 2 starts at address 9, unit 3 at 17, and so on. Clear labeling on each unit makes addressing straightforward.
Can Matrix work without a DMX controller?
No — Matrix requires a DMX controller or software to operate. It has no standalone presets. For standalone operation with smart control, see Pulse or Prism.
What cable type and max run length?
DMX cable: Belden 9841 or equivalent (120Ω impedance). Max 300m per segment. Terminate the last unit in each chain with a 120Ω resistor (included). Use a DMX splitter for runs exceeding 300m.
Can I mix Matrix with other DMX fixtures?
Yes. Matrix is a standard DMX fixture. Patch it alongside any other DMX-compliant lights in your lighting console. Each unit occupies 8 consecutive DMX channels.
Do you provide fixture profiles?
Yes. Pre-built fixture profiles for grandMA2, Lightkey, and QLC+ are included on USB. Custom profiles for other consoles available upon request.
How many Matrix units for a city square project?
A typical city square installation uses 20–50 units across 1–2 DMX universes. For larger projects, DMX splitters and multiple universes scale to hundreds of units. Our engineering team can design the DMX layout for your project.
What is the warranty and support for Matrix?
2-year warranty. Priority technical support for integrators: DMX addressing assistance, fixture profile creation, and installation consulting included with every order.
